Yummy dessert!

I just ate the most delicious dessert, and I had to share! Normally, I don't count fruit as a dessert--because it's NOT :)  But when it involves chocolate and peanut butter, well, that changes the rules. I hesitate to even call this a "recipe", because it only has 3 ingredients. But I can see myself eating this daily--at least for a while.

Simply orgasmic
Peel and slice a small banana into a bowl. Combine 2 Tbsp. of PB2 + 2 Tbsp. Hershey's Lite Syrup and stir until pretty smooth. Top the banana with the chocolate/PB mixture, and inhale savor your dessert.  (Stats: 187 calories, 2 grams of fat, 4 grams of fiber, 40 grams of carbs, 6 grams of protein).  I know that Hershey's Syrup isn't exactly healthy, but if it makes me lust after a banana, then it works for me!

So, Katie, how is your sugar-free Tuesday going?

Wait, what?

DAMMIT, I forgot again!!

I completely forgot about going sugar-free on Tuesdays until I typed "Hershey's" and then it hit me. Oops.  My whole day was kind of screwy today. I didn't eat a single bite of food until 2 PM! I woke up at 6, and before I ate, Eli started throwing up.

I was taking care of him, and then took him to the doctor, and took the kids to a class thing they had going on today--and long story short, I didn't get home until 2:00. I was starving. So I ate more calories than usual for lunch and dinner. And to complete my stressful day, I'm going to have a glass of wine (or two).

Tomorrow is my Wednesday weigh-in. I think I did pretty good this week. I counted calories for 6 out of 7 days (Jerry told me I could have one day off each week from our deal, woo hoo). I've worked out every single day in June so far. I wasn't planning on doing that, but now that I have this streak going, it's hard to stop.

I'll write more tomorrow after I weigh in.

What do you do to unwind after a stressful day? I love to relax in the corner of my couch (it's a sectional, and "my" spot is the corner) with a glass of dry red wine and a good TV show.

  1. I'm not a fan of bananas. I can force myself to eat them, but the only way I like them is the way my mom used to make them for me as a little kid, which is a really weird way. You slice the banana length-wise, spread peanut butter (the sweet kind) in the middle, and put it together again like a sandwich. Then you roll it in orange juice, then roll it in wheat germ, then cut it into slices. Sounds weird, but it's really delicious. I'm usually too lazy to go through all those steps, not to mention I rarely have wheat germ in the house, so I've gotten used to eating the banana with just the peanut butter.

It was a really bad day for me too. It was the first day since I started on Spark in February that I didn't track. I've had really horrible insomnia all week and today was the last straw. Got a new pillow, hopefully that will help, but I ate out for all of my meals and everything I ate was horribly over-caloried. Ah well, I guess i start over again tomorrow...

  2. Have you tried the frozen banana that you blend in a food processor? It is like banana ice cream. TOpped with the chocolate and PB? Divine!

  3. I am REALLY sugar-sensitive, and totally consider fruit dessert (and nuts) - because I can eat an entire bunch of bananas and jar of almond or coconut butter in a sitting if I don't pay attention. But that is me! Other than that, dark chocolate is my favorite dessert.

Regardless - maybe you should have Sugar-Free Wednesdays! Since you keep remembering on Tuesday, after the fact - this way it would be fresh in your mind!

You posted a recipe one time for fudge with dark chocolate cocoa powder, honey, and water. I am forever making that and not putting it in the freezer to turn into fudge and just topping fruit with it. I LOVE it with bananas and strawberries!

  5. That looks good! Like Amanda, I'm not really into bananas, but I think chocolate would help that. I'm excited for your weigh-in!!

See that is my problem, stress eating. The only time I ever binge or do not excercise is when I have a stressful day. The ONLY thing that will calm me down is the most saltiest, fattening foods. I've tried to do many other things to relieve stress, but nothing works for me! It's so frustrating.

P.S. Are you still considering writing a post on your extra skin? That is something I really struggle with. Especially my arms. So, I'm really looking forward to that post if you're still doing it. :)

That looks so yummy! My favorite flavors!

Here's one of my faves: cut a banana in half and insert a popcicle stick into the cut side. dip in chocolate (I use melted chocolate chips but Hershey's syrup might work too. Roll in crushed peanuts (I guess you could roll it in PB2?) then freeze. YUM!
