So many ideas!

Wow, thanks for all the great suggestions yesterday about making/saving some money for my surgery! I had to get a loan for the surgery, but I want to pay it off ASAP, and I love some of the suggestions you have. I really like the idea of making something to sell--and while I was running on the dreadmill today, I had an idea of what to make. I even made a few of them today. I decided to skip using Etsy for now, simply because the thing I made has everything to do with my blog! I'll post a page with the details tomorrow, after I figure out how to use PayPal  ;)

It's been raining non-stop here for two days. I'm bummed, because I LOVE Fall weather in Michigan (as long as it's not raining!) and I want to go outside. Yesterday, I skipped my run altogether. Today, I didn't want to skip another run, so I ran on the dreadmill. I did 5 miles at 6.0 mph with a few intervals at 7.0 (always a 1% incline).

I watched the show Revenge while I was running. Are any of you into that show? It's one of those shows that I don't really feel like watching, so it sits on the DVR, but then when I get around to watching it, I'm totally hooked. The way this show is set up makes it nearly impossible to have a second season, however. Not sure what the plan is for that!

Tomorrow is my monthly Winers meeting. It's at Renee's house, and I'm supposed to wear a Halloween costume. Last year I was Little Red Riding Hood, but unless I come up with a costume tomorrow morning, I won't be dressing up this year. I just don't want to spend money on something I'm going to wear once. I could always wear the Little Red Riding Hood costume again, but that's no fun either  :(

Estelle (my really ugly cat) cracks me up! I told you how she loves to hide in places and then jump out and scare the shit out of me... well yesterday, Jerry found her in the craziest place yet!
Can you spot her?
I have no idea how she managed it, but she was hiding out on top of the hangers in the closet, between the hooks and the wall--literally LYING DOWN ON the hangers. I can't believe she didn't fall. She thought she was so cool when she noticed us looking, too.

I wish I had more to write about today, but I honestly don't. I really need to catch up on my Google Reader--the trip to Arizona made me get soooo far behind!

  1. That cat is crazy! I can't wait to show my husband when I get home, he is going to crack up! We have been hooked on Revenge! I actually hope they don't do a second season so I can find out what she does to that family! Plus, she needs to be with that bar guy! ALSO...lol...I love the way her house is decorated *swoon*. I can't wait to find out what you made!!! So funny we were bloggin at the same time :)

  2. Hi Katie,
I've been following your blog for a couple of months. So inspiring.
On the subject of your Halloween costume, you could tape a whole bunch of Smarties to your pants. And since you seem to have a lot of wit, Smartypants would be the perfect fit :)

  3. do you freecycle? It is a group on yahoo (freecycle.com) and post on there that you want to borrow a costume, you might get some who will lend or give you for free. I also watch our freecycle for kids clothes/toys.

Another thing I was thinking, I use groupon/livingsocial/familyfinds/etc, mainly for eating out (which I know you don't like), professional pictures (I need to pick up our CD, I did this once, and super happy with them), for Whole Foods (aka whole paycheck to many), bowling, foam gyms, etc. Next summer, can you plant a garden? It really helps, if you have a yard. Some of your neighbors/friends who have gardens might swap with you. I will try to continue on finding some other ideas.

BTW..if you are still on that other blogging site, I believe the one you started on, I am there are "Lindy".

  5. Now I'm not going to be able to sleep tonight, wondering what you came up with to make and sale!!! :-)

You are very inspiring for me. I come to your blog multiple times a day, although, I do believe this is the first time I've ever left you a comment.

I don't know why but I always get super nervous about leaving comments on peoples blogs. I'm painfully shy though, so that's probably why.

Anyway, I figured I would take the plunge and leave you a comment. I Love your blog so much, it really does help keep me sane and most of the time, on track. I'm at the beginning of my weight loss journey, so I'm still learning what knocks me off track and how to avoid that. It's a learning process.

You have a great family (cats included!).

Take care and I will be waiting to see your crafting skills!

  7. I love the homemade costume idea! You might want to check out this site: http://www.coolest-homemade-costumes.com/ I found some really cute ideas on there!
Your cat is crazy. Glad you like cats...I became allergic to cats after I moved out of my parents house and then moved back. Crazy, right? I grew up with cats! Oh well, they were never my favorite.
I'm super excited to see what you're making! Maybe beanies or something to cover your ears while you're running? lol. I have no idea, I'm sure you'll post pictures! =)
Have fun at your Winers meeting!!! Have a glass (or two or three) for me!

  8. I went to my daughter's BFF's birthday/Halloween extravaganza last year as a RUNNER! I think you have what it takes to pull together that costume, no? I pinned one of my race bibs on, walked around with my ear buds in, had my sweat bands on... perfect. FREE!

When I saw the little picture in your blog on my dashboard I thought you were showing us all of the empty hangers left from rummaging through your closet for things to sell (eBay)! I was NOT expecting to see your cat! The hangers weren't even angled out from her weight. How the hell did she do that?!?

Does your craft have something to do with cookies??? Bake sale!! There's another idea. I just don't know how you market the sale...usually these things are associated with a charity or a group. Can't wait to hear more!

  9. Ha!Ha! Your cat is hilarious Katie!!!!! And quite talented to figure out that she could pull that off!!!!
I am getting annoyed with the rain too!!! One good thing about running with a group....my morning running group at the gym doesn't let anything be an excuse not to run (except lightening), so we did our normal 45 minute jog yesterday morning. It was actually kind of fun!!!
Hopefully we are going to have better weather today!!!!!:-)

  10. Did you watch Damages?

The 1st season ended in such a way that it was nearly impossible to have a 2nd season but they did..it wasnt as good as the first but then they made up for it in the 3rd.

I'm assuming they'll spin the story and cover another aspect of someones life.

  13. Yep, the rain is definitely bumming me out, too. Tomorrow we're finally supposed to get a nice day (thank goodness!)
You have one smart cat! Loved that photo!

  14. You're cat is hilarious!!
I've been taping the Revenge series, but haven't watched them. They are all in my DVR and I just can't bring myself to start them. But now that I see you and a few others are hooked I'll have to watch!
You should move to Texas. We haven't had rain in months...ok maybe two days total, but still. You just have to enjoy 100+ weather at 200% humidity. LOL

I used to publish ALL comments (even the mean ones) but I recently chose not to publish those. I always welcome constructive comments/criticism, but there is no need for unnecessary rudeness/hate. But please--I love reading what you have to say! (This comment form is super finicky, so I apologize if you're unable to comment)
