Friday Night Photos #9

This is just going to be a quickie... it's been such a busy day! Luke and Riley (my 3-year old nephew and 2-year old niece) are spending the night. I haven't had a chance to stop and breathe, let alone work on a post ;)  So here are just a few pictures from today...

The kids know that I chew ice, and they like to to chew it too when they see me ;) They like this ice because it fits on their fingers...

These kids are meticulous about washing their hands...

Apple juice ring pops... when I asked them what their favorite part about coming over to Auntie Katie's house is, they told me that it's the frozen ring pops, hahahaha.

They wanted to play with Play-doh and we didn't have any, so Noah went up to the store to buy some!

Riley clearly wasn't happy with how her horse turned out, haha.

I gave the kids chopsticks to use as "tools" for the Play-doh, and they weren't sure what to do with them. When I was a kid, my family was invited to the home of a Japanese family (my dad's coworker at Mazda) for dinner. They didn't speak English and we didn't speak Japanese, but somehow it worked out. And the mom used a rubber band to attach chopsticks together, demonstrating that it's how they teach young kids how to use chopsticks. I taught my kids with that method, and so I tried it with Luke and Riley today. Riley was really into it!

Of course, Jerry was very into teaching them how to play with light sabers--these are light saber chopsticks that Noah and Eli got for Christmas.

So serious!

I didn't have any dolls for Riley to play with, but I had Tuck and Roll (the pill bugs from the 'A Bug's Life' movie by Pixar).

She told me they were sick and she felt their foreheads for fevers.

Of course we had to make popcorn with the "special" popcorn maker...

I was shocked when the kids told me they'd never made finger Jello! So we made some of that (Eli loves lime, so that's the only flavor I had--Luke and Riley weren't into that so much. But they liked playing with it!)

Watching Ratatouille and eating the yummy popcorn we made!

I can't even stand the cuteness sometimes!

Luke checking out one of the kayaks we got Noah and Eli for Christmas...

He was so sweet! And he fell asleep sitting right next to me.

Riley is SUCH an angel and seriously the smartest kid ever. She's only two years old, and when I said to her, "So you went to the beach on vacation?" she replied, "Yes, Clearwater Beach in Florida." Hahaha, seriously.

It's been a super fun day--I love seeing the kids so much!

  1. They’re adorable! Just wanted to let you know that popcorn is considered a choking hazard under the age of 4, and ice cubes too.

    1. For the life of me, I can't remember where I bought the popsicle mold, but it looks similar to this one on Amazon: https://amzn.to/3pHrZVa The difference is that mine has rings on the end instead of sticks. It's nice because it's made of silicone so they come out of the tray really easily. We just poured apple juice in there and it took a few hours to freeze. The kids LOVE them!

I used to publish ALL comments (even the mean ones) but I recently chose not to publish those. I always welcome constructive comments/criticism, but there is no need for unnecessary rudeness/hate. But please--I love reading what you have to say! (This comment form is super finicky, so I apologize if you're unable to comment)
