Transformation Tuesday #79

Well, I think I finally caught up on sleep! I tend to go weeks and weeks without sleeping more than 2-3 hours a night and then one day, I'll sleep like a rock for a LONG time. Last night, I was in bed at 7:45 (yes, for real!) and then I didn't wake up until 6:30. So, I should be good on sleep for a while. Yay!

Thank you so much for those of you that submitted your Transformation Tuesdays photos! I mistakenly thought Sunday was Monday and I sent a reminder on Sunday. Either way, I am happy to have some posts to share!

Here goes...

A couple of years ago I had made a blanket for my husband’s cousin’s new baby.  We called it the “Bridget” blanket because we put her name on the top of it.  Well earlier this year her mom asked me if we could make a “Marilyn” blanket because Bridgets older sister Marilyn kept taking off with her blanket because she liked it so much. Marilyn loved her new blanket, so hopefully Bridget will be able to keep her blanket from now on lol.

Katie, it looks fantastic! What an amazing and thoughtful gift. Someone gifted me a knitted blanket for Noah with his name on it and I loved it. I'm sure you put a ton of work into it and it definitely shows! The colors look great together. Thanks for sharing!  -Katie

I decided to get rid of the patio table and chairs we had--we rarely ate outside, so I gave the set to my brother and we got this cute settee set. My husband stained the deck and put the furniture together and I styled our new outdoor space with pillows, foot rest poufs, and plants. I also installed Edison lights to plug in when it gets dark--just to make the space bright. Looking forward to spending some time on the deck reading!

Lorri, oh my gosh--the first thing that caught my eye was the stain on the deck. I am SO overwhelmed at the thought of staining ours, which needs it badly, but yours looks amazing. The second thing that caught my eye were the foot rest poofs (which I would totally use to sit cross-legged on, haha). I've never seen those before--so cute! What a huge difference; I bet you're going to love reading out there this summer :)  -Katie

Not a huge transformation… I tore out the carpet and stained the hardwood floor on the inside of my closet. The color looks a bit red in the picture, but it’s not that over the top. We’re getting new carpet in the rest of the master and I wanted to get that taken care of! I had to wood fill around an odd strip/piece of wood, and I think it’s fine for being on the inside of a closet.

Sarah

Sarah, that is not a small transformation at all--it looks great! Even thought it's "just a closet", it always helps when we feel good about our own space. Getting new carpet in the master bedroom will be fun! Walking around on new carpet is heavenly :)  -Katie

I have wanted to get the exterior of our house painted since the day we bought it, and we were finally able to get it done. I hired a painting contractor in March and his schedule was full for 2 months. Then, it rained for 6 weeks about every other day. We had to have a dry stretch. And just like that, it was summer and 100 degrees. I felt so bad for the painters, having to paint in the terrible heat, but that’s the way the cards fell. I knew all along I wanted a shade of blue, and intended on going with a “safe” blue. But when I saw a navy home on Pinterest I fell in love. I felt like the navy would play well with the little bit of red brick we had, and it’s a very colonial architecture. It was worth the money and the wait.

By the way, this is vinyl siding. We learned that every paint brand offers a vinyl safe formula, you just have to specifically ask for it.

Before: Sage Green
After: Benjamin Moore Hale Navy

Valerie, I'm stunned--what an amazing difference! The house looks so much more modern and welcoming. The bolder blue color choice was perfect. LOVE it!  -Katie

Thank you again for sharing your transformations! It's so much fun to see what you all can do. So please send me some more for next week. I have a SUPER busy weekend, so I won't be able to come up with any transformations on my own to share--and I'm relying on you! ;)  So just send a before photo and an after photo to me at: katie (at) runsforcookies (dot) com, and include your name and a description of your transformation. Can't wait to see what you have to share!

  1. Great transformations! I love seeing these each week.
I didn't realize you could paint vinyl siding! I will keep that in mind for when we get to redo our outside. I love the navy blue, it was a great choice.

I used to publish ALL comments (even the mean ones) but I recently chose not to publish those. I always welcome constructive comments/criticism, but there is no need for unnecessary rudeness/hate. But please--I love reading what you have to say! (This comment form is super finicky, so I apologize if you're unable to comment)
