Friday Night Photos

Crossing my fingers that this post will go off without a hitch...

Happy Friday! I don't have a ton of pictures today (most of my pictures are from projects that I'm working on and I don't want to share them until my projects are finished). But here are a few I do have.

Remember the crop top I bought at Goodwill? A few people suggested I wear a longer top underneath it (because there is no way I'd wear it as is!). The only top I could think of that would look okay was this tie dyed tank top. I actually kind of like it! I wouldn't wear the tank top without something over it and I wouldn't wear the crop top without something under it, so it works out well.

The blue dress is pretty exciting for me--out of nowhere, I decided to try on my "Dr. Oz dress" (the blue dress that I wore when I was a guest on the Dr. Oz Show) and it actually fit! I didn't even have a problem zipping it. It's a size 4, so I never even attempted to try it on over the last few years. Can you believe it's been 11 years since I was on the show?!

Today I worked on some clothes that I wanted to alter or mend, and I had a pair of jeans that I loved but they were straight legged jeans--and with my enormous calves, I need flare jeans. So, I decided to try cutting the side seam and adding contrasting fabric in order to make them flare. Chick was loving helping me, as long as I threw him the scraps.

They kind of look like a big mess, but I really like them so far. I haven't finished yet (I'm going to put the dark blue denim all around the bottom, too, so the hem kind of ties into the flared sides. You can't really tell from the picture, but the holes in the jeans are patched from the inside with dark blue denim and lace over it. Anyway, when they're done I'll try them on and take a picture. I'm excited I'll be able to wear them again! (Now, if only I could be brave enough to cut into my very favorite skinny jeans.)

I wrote about this at some point before, but this is the mess I was dealing with in the garage. I got most of it cleared out and organized, but I need to figure out permanent storage solutions.

Jerry picked this oak table up for super cheap on Marketplace so that I could mill down the boards like I did with that oak table last time. It's SUPER old, which is really interesting; when I was taking it apart, I saw all sorts of techniques that were done by hand when they would be done with special tools and jigs now (like pocket holes).

The chairs are very small, which I think is interesting because people were smaller back in the day. My butt barely fits on them! And I honestly don't have a big butt.

Just looking at the screws was pretty neat--I've never seen them like that. I got the whole thing taken apart today, but I'm not going to be able to run it through the jointer and planer until I can get the goddamn blades set correctly.

This was totally embarrassing yesterday. I went with Eli to a doctor's appointment and I didn't realize until I was in the waiting room that I was still wearing my moccasins that I'd had on at home! (They are like slippers/house shoes for me.) I saw a couple of people stare at them, but I didn't want to explain. Ah, well, they were comfy.

I'm cracking up at Jerry with this lemon pepper tofu! This is when it was marinating; I didn't have a chance to take a picture afterward because Jerry housed them all. He calls them "tofu snackers" because I bake them until they get very firm--not the texture of jerky, but definitely chewy and delicious. Jerry has been asking me to make more every single day. I love it! ;)

And finally, I plan to be just like this on my Friday night. I'm freezing and I really want to watch a movie. Starting tomorrow, Jerry is going to be off for a week straight! And I think we're going to start working on the deck--power wash, clean, stain, and seal. Yikes.

Have a great weekend! xo

  1. I'm really impressed with your sewing skills. I wish I had learned how to sew. And you really know how to handle wood too. Jerry really found a good find with that table. Hope you had a good weekend.

  2. That garage. Imagine that, but paper. Stack and stacks and piles and piles of paper. That's my office. Good luck, girl.

I used to publish ALL comments (even the mean ones) but I recently chose not to publish those. I always welcome constructive comments/criticism, but there is no need for unnecessary rudeness/hate. But please--I love reading what you have to say! (This comment form is super finicky, so I apologize if you're unable to comment)
