Yard issues (and Wed. weigh in)

I was a little disappointed when I got on the scale this morning and saw that my weight was exactly the same as last week. I had said that I was only hoping to maintain or have a *little* gain today, because of the weekend; but I followed my PointsPlus plan the entire week, so I thought maybe I would lose a little.

I'm not horribly disappointed, however, because it was a very tough weekend and I managed not to gain anything!
All stats are pretty much the same. My body fat was 24.2% last week, so it went down by just 0.2%. Hopefully I'll see a change in my weight next week! I'm so close to be back in the 130's, and just four pounds away from being back in my goal range.

When I was getting the boys ready for school this morning, I asked them what they wanted for breakfast, and Eli said without hesitation, "Can I have green eggs and ham? But can I have it without the ham?" I thought this was hilarious, because he has never asked for green eggs and ham before--it just came out of nowhere.

So I scrambled an egg with a couple of drops of green food coloring, and it looked gross, but Eli was very happy with it:
I made an old favorite for my breakfast this morning--oatmeal with PB2 and cocoa powder. It's been a long time since I had that! I actually haven't been eating oatmeal very often lately. I just haven't been in the mood for it.

When I went outside this morning, I was furious when I saw our yard:

This is the yard on the side of our house that Jerry and I just bought in August. Some jackass drove through it and across the alley, through another yard, and out on another street. They completely tore up the yard. It happened during the night, so I have no clue who did it. I'm so pissed about it.

Tonight starts the World Series, and the Tigers actually made it this year--I'm totally not a sports person, but I told Jerry I'd watch the game with him tonight. He's very excited about it, of course ;) Even though I dislike completely hate sports, I love the feeling of camaraderie when something big like this happens. There was a lot of talk about it in Detroit on Saturday and Sunday.

Anyway, that's about as much as I will ever talk about sports!

  2. You could also use baby spinach blended together in a magic bullet or something like that. The eggs turn out green too and it tastes good especially if you add a little shredded cheese melted in. maybe not as green though as what the food coloring provided. But pretty green. :)

  4. I bet the weight maintenance is water weight from your muscles being all used and abused at the marathon. I'd bet money on it, but you've inspired me to start WW again post marathon! Sorry about the yard. I'd be livid too.

  5. The green eggs look totally gross, but I'm glad Eli liked them. That was nice of you to do. I remember those mornings before school with my 3 boys...they were lucky to get a bowl of cereal. I was always frazzled in the mornings, rushing around to get them ready, to get me ready, and be out of the house by 7 a.m. I remember my own mother, who stayed at home until I got to junior high, fixing my brother and I hot breakfast every single morning!

I compare watching baseball, to watching paint dry. BORING! But I watch a lot of it as hubby and sons are all huge baseball (and every other sports known to man) fans. You are lucky cause the team your hubby follows is successful. My family is Kansas City Royals fan. The last time they made the series was 1985! I don't think they've even made the play-offs since then. They are really bad! I didn't know who to root for this year, now I will root for your Detroit Tigers! GO TIGERS!

  6. Just recently found your blog and I really enjoy it. So sorry about the yard, though. That is awful!

I also wanted green eggs when I was little, and my sweet daddy fixed them for me. Sadly, they grossed me out so much that I couldn't eat scrambled eggs without feeling totally nauseated until my 30s! Now I love them...but I lost a good 25 or so years! :)

  7. I swear I have the most problems trying to leave comments! I just was finishing up one and then the page refreshed or something and poof! it was gone... :(

If I had to guess, Jerky McJerk-Pants the midnight driver was probably drinking or on something... lucky for everyone he (or she i guess) didn't hit any houses!

  8. That is awful with yard!

I absolutely hate sports too! I am in Michigan as well so my husband roped me into walking the world series last night. It is fun to witness something like that and feel somehow a part of it. Although last night's game was rough to watch.

Good luck with next week's weigh in!

  9. Hi!
I've been reading and following you for a while but finally decided to come out of hiding!

CONGRATS on your 2nd marathon. Such a huge inspiration! I'm hoping to do my first next year, and to get under 5 hours will have me celebrating for months.
    congrats, congrats!!

  11. Go all CSI and set the tire prints and see if it compares to anyone in your neighborhood - they had to know enough to know it was a cut through.

Also, you might want to pick up free on Craigslist or something some rail ties or big rocks to edge the yard to this doesn't happen again.

When we moved into our new house, my husband did that to our yard with the moving truck. I was so mad for months and months and when it rains, I can still see the tire ruts and it makes me furious.

Loved your last two posts - glad you did so well with the marathon and recovery!

I used to publish ALL comments (even the mean ones) but I recently chose not to publish those. I always welcome constructive comments/criticism, but there is no need for unnecessary rudeness/hate. But please--I love reading what you have to say! (This comment form is super finicky, so I apologize if you're unable to comment)
