The BEST giveaway ever!

First, I want to thank ALL of you for your kind comments on yesterday's post. I was feeling really down about the whole 18-mile run and the marathon itself, but I felt a million times better after reading those comments. I've decided that for the 20-miler, I'm going to add some walk breaks as well, probably a 9:1 ratio of running to walking. I think I'll feel better about the walk breaks if I plan them out ahead of time, and that way I don't feel like I'm "giving up" mid-run.

Now, on to the best giveaway ever...

Boy, am I ever excited for one of you!

Yesterday, after my crappy 18-miler, my spirits were lifted very high when I saw a brown box on my porch from none other than GARMIN. You all know I am as attached to my Garmin Forerunner as I am to cookies (and peanut butter, and ice cream). When I run, my Garmin is just as important to me as my running shoes.

But I don't have to tell you all this, because it's pretty apparent if you've been reading my blog. I couldn't contain my excitement as I opened the box and saw THIS:
That would be the Garmin Forerunner 910XT with heart rate monitor... *swoon*! If I hadn't just about died running 18 miles, I would have taken that baby out for a spin run right then and there. But my legs could barely hold me up at that point, so I settled for opening the box and checking out every single part that was included. Oh, and I may or may not have worn it on my wrist the whole time I was recovering in the recliner. I will be writing all about it after I've recovered enough to run again.

Now, I know you don't care about all this, because you just want me to get to "the best giveaway EVER!" (read that in an Oprah voice, it's better). Garmin is allowing me to share the love with my readers, because they also sent me THIS:
That would be a shiny new Garmin Forerunner 210 with heart rate monitor. And it's CUTE, with teal accents!

I am SUPER excited to be able to give this 210 away to one (very lucky) Runs for Cookies reader. Since I imagine this will be a pretty popular giveaway, I'm only leaving it open for 36 hours--you can enter until Thursday, April 19th at 5:00 a.m. E.S.T.

The only "rules" are that you must be either a follower of or subscriber to my blog. I'm not saying this in order to get more subscribers, but to narrow down the field, so to speak; and I'm so sorry, but you must be in the U.S. or Canada to enter. And... this is not a requirement, but I'm asking nicely... if you already have a Garmin, I would love it if you would pass over this giveaway to allow someone who doesn't have one the opportunity to get one.

That said, here is how you can enter: first, check out the Forerunner page and leave a comment here, telling me which feature you are most excited about on the 210.

If you like, you can earn a "bonus" entry by using the creative part of your brain... ;)  My Ragnar Relay team needs a name. And we're stumped! We want a name that is fun, creative, and somehow plays on the fact that we all used to be overweight. (An example of this would be "Gut Busters" or "Shrinky Dinks"--except we don't like those names!) So you can leave a second comment with a suggestion for a team name. FYI, there are 10 females and 2 males on the team.

That means you can have two possible ways to enter, with one comment each. Make sure that your name is somewhere on each comment so I know who you are.

GOOD LUCK! I wish everyone could win, I really do!

(FYI--If your comment doesn't show up right away, it could have been flagged as Spam. Don't worry, I will have to manually "okay" it for it to show up, and I will do that. DO NOT post more than 2 comments--1 per entry--please. I am deleting any additional comments to keep the drawing fair.)

  1. Your team name could be "From Flab to Fab!"

  2. The feature I'm most excited about is the heart rate monitor...I'd love to get a more accurate calorie burning count when I run. I currently use my phone as my gps and I'm always afraid I'm gonna drop it. Thanks for the opportunity!

  3. This is an awesome giveaway!!! I would love being able to take the Garmin on both my outdoor runs, as well as when I'm feeling lazy and stick to the treadmill (I know you call it the "dreadmill", but I find treadmill running SO much easier!)

    ReplyDelete
  4. I'm excited about the fact that it seems very user friendly. And it has a built in HR monitor! Score!

  5. Your team name could be "Run this Weigh"!

  6. I would love a Garmin! I would like to get into running again but am waiting to lose just 13 more pounds so it will be a little easier on my body - if that's possible. I would love to see my splits and just to be able to know how far I have run and to have a heart rate monitor to make sure I'm pushing myself hard enough would definitely help with the weight loss. I've lost 32 pounds since January when I 'found' you on pinterest and then joined sparkpeople (clemandbetty). I've tried to comment before but it always says I'm anonymous but I don't understand why. Anyways, I believe I am a follower - if not I swear I check every day for your updates. Usually multiple times if you have not written a new post - not that I'm stalking you or anything - I'm just always super excited to see what you have to say! Hopefully this will leave my name this time but if not and if my some miracle I win my name is Lisa Henry and emails is clemandbetty@yahoo.com Hope to hear from you!

p.s. looks like I have to be anonymous again - wish there was a link for sparkpeople so I could use that log in. Guess I'm just not smart enough to figure out these other ways.

  7. Okay... I would LOVE having a gadget to breakdown the details of my run. I've tried using an app on my phone but it isn't entirely reliable and I love the idea of having my pace, distance, intervals, etc all measured in one handy (and easy to wear! I don't like my armband!) gadget :)

  8. And for my 2nd entry....How about "The Big Fat Losers"? Get it?! Good luck!

  9. Hi Katie! Love your blog been an avid reader since I found you on sparkpeople. I love the option to have interval training, I am just getting into running and can't run for any great length of time so I would definitely need this option. I have been eyeballing the Garmins after all your talk about them but just don't have the money! Thanks for the chance!

  10. I hope I win so bad! My gift to myself for losing 50lbs was going to be this very Garmin! As of Saturday, I've hit 50lbs, but I cannot afford one right now! My favorite feature will be knowing my pace and heart rate!

    ReplyDelete
  11. I'm new running and I don't even like to say running because I am so slow. I am 100% treadmill, but eventually would like to venture outside and this would ease the anxiety of running outside by knowing how far I go and giving me some of the same feedback as the treadmill!

    ReplyDelete
  12. I already have a Garmin so will leave the chances to someone else, but I love trying to come up with fun team names. How about "The Dwindling Dozen" or the "Dwindled Dozen".

    ReplyDelete
  13. I am most excited about being able to time my pace each mile! I use my timer on my (very old!) iPod, but it's not ideal for timing my pace per mile. I also would love not having to map out my routes all the time, figure out my best guess at caloric burn, etc. Anything would be better than what I'm doing now! :)

I'm a subscriber through Google reader, but what the heck--I'll become an official follower, too! :) I love your blog--I always enjoy your posts. Your honesty about weight loss, running, food and life in general is refreshing! I look forward to your posts each day.

    ReplyDelete
  14. I am excited about the feature that allows one to create customized interval sessions and see their pace for each interval. I am slowly getting back into running and would love to be able to use the Garmin to improve!

    ReplyDelete
  15. I have been looking at Garmin's since I started running last summer... not possible on this College-girls budget right now! But, the simple feature of knowing distance and pace both indoor and outdoor would be AWESOME! I have a phone app but it doesn't get enough satellite at the gym (or anywhere indoors) to track my distance/pace... and pace is something I have been wanting to work on! I haven't commented before, but I love your blog... so inspirational to get up and get moving!

    ReplyDelete
  16. And for my second entry because I really want to win but have no creative talents I say how about "the biggest winners" for your Ragnar team. The accomplishments you all have made make you all so awesome!

  17. I'm currently on my own journey to lose weight. I've lost 30 pounds since Christmas and have about 30 more to go before I reach my first goal weight. I'm just getting into running and have been into cycling, but it's hard not having a heart rate monitor, so I would definitely be most excited to win it.

    Thanks for being an inspiration!

  18. This is such an awesome giveaway! I only just started running after years of saying "I am NOT a runner and don't ever feel I need to be". 6 weeks ago I got bored with walking and have, gasp, been a 'runner' ever since! I was just able to run my first 3 miles straight last night but this would be such a great tool to help me keep working at goals. I do most of my running on the treadmill mainly because I don't have a way to track outdoor runs so I think my favorite feature would be just the general ability to track the "every minute and every mile"!

  19. For my first comment, I like that I can set up my own alerts based on my individual heart rate range, just starting to work out, I am learning the importance of staying in the right range, so when I begin my journey of walking and running, I will be able to do it accurate and have this data right from the start! Good luck fellow contestants! And thank you, Garmin :)

    ReplyDelete
  20. I would honestly be the most excited just to have a gadget to keep track of mileage! I have just used my phone in the past when I wanted to keep track of time/mileage, but I'm never sure how accurate a phone app really is. And it looks great too!

    ReplyDelete
  21. I'm most excited about ALL of them! haha But, I'm would be really happy not to have to carry my huge iPhone on my arm every time I run! Yay! Hope I win :)

    ReplyDelete
  22. Honestly, the thing that I like most about the 210 is its simplicity. I don't need a lot of extra features. I'm not a professional runner...I'm a 10 miles a week runner looking to increase my distance.

    ReplyDelete
  23. And for a name....?

How about The Pound Droppers (ummm...maybe not the most creative name). :)

    Thanks!

  24. For my second entry...okay, I am TERRIBLE at coming up with fun names, but here goes:

Prior Fat Flyers (fliers?) (Okay, I officially suck at this.)
    Diminishing Dozen
    Big Fat Run Aways (Run-A-Weighs?)

Please feel free to delete this comment with its terrible suggestions. :)

  25. I've lost 70 lbs in the last year by running and changing my nutrition! I've been eying Garmins because everyone in my running group has a 305. They've been too expensive on amazon but I really want to get one so I can know my distance and pace!

    Kelsey L

    ReplyDelete
  26. My favorite feature would be simply just knowing my pace! Boring, I know! But I currently despise the fact that I do not know my current pace because I don't have a kick ass tool like the Garmin! Thanks for this opportunity!

    ReplyDelete
  27. I'm already a follower of your blog! And the feature I'm most excited about with the Garmin is that I can leave my phone at home instead of lugging it around to use my Nike app to track all my runs. All I'd have to do is press start and off I go!

    ReplyDelete
  28. And for my bonus entry...how about the Slim Shadys? I know how much you love Eminem lol ;)

    ReplyDelete
  29. I LOVE gadgets that are all-inclusive! I love how you can also track weight, body fat, etc., along with your workouts! This is so cool :) If I don't win, I might have to talk my husband into buying me one!

  33. Katie- i have been so inspired by your blog. i don't have a garmin but b/c of you i dream about having one! my favorite feature of the garmin is the HR monitor...that would help me know if i need to work harder or pace myself. :-) i will leave another comment about the name i'd pick for your team.

  34. I love the fact that the 210 will track my run and then I can connect it to my computer and it does all the work for me! I've been using an iPhone app, just because I haven't had a Garmin.

I started running after I came across your blog... I am overweight and ready for a change!! I have really come to enjoy running. Such a great stress relief from an otherwise dreary college life of studying and homework! So thanks!!

  35. Your Ragnar team could be called "Fat to Fab" or "Running from the past" or "Running Wonders"

  40. I am just starting to run. I was part of a 5k for charity the Saturday over Easter weekend and walked the whole thing. I started reading your blog trying to figure out how I can get started being a rather hefty woman who has a 10-month-old. Looking forward to being in shape so that when he looks at the pictures of him as a baby he wonders who is holding him.

  41. Not having a Garmin, everything about it seems dazzling. Especially, getting an accurate calorie burn. I also really like that I can share my info online with the Garmin Connect.

The feature I think I would like the most is being able to create customized interval sessions. I need to start doing some interval training and would love this feature

    ReplyDelete
  43. Awesome giveaway!! My favorite thing about the 210 would be it's GPS feature/ability to track my run accurately! The app on my phone that I currently use when running is always losing it's signal and then I lose all of the info on how far/fast I have gone!! I've been looking at a forerunner for awhile now, but have not been ready to make the commitment money-wise....so winning the giveway would rock!

    ReplyDelete
  47. I love that it has an 8 hour battery life and the fact it has the ability to create customized interval sessions. I think the Forerunner 210 would help keep me accountable in a way that I can't do myself.

What I love about it is the heart rate monitor!! Not fooling yourself on how hard you're working when you're staring at at numbers!! It would be a huge motivator!

    I'm so excited!

    ReplyDelete
  50. I am not yet a runner, nor do I own any type of sport watch, but the feature I think is the greatest is the indoor/outdoor. I like that it says you can use it outdoors, on a track, on a treadmill, bike, etc. That makes for some functionality.

    ReplyDelete
  51. I would be super excited to be able to accurately track distance and pace. The heartrate monitor is cool too. I hate bringing my phone with me on my walks (and now jogs!!!!!)

    ReplyDelete
  52. I nearly peed on myself when I saw that the title included "Giveaway" and that there was a picture of the cutest watch! I had to read about the giveaway before I read the rest of the blog, of course(: I have had my heart set on saving up for a Garmin for the past few months. I lost my plain jane digital watch from Wal-mart and I desperately need to buy new shoes first, so the treadmill and my iPod have been my best friends.

Intervals, pace, distance, a rechargeable battery, and a heart rate monitor especially are all things I crave to have on my dream watch. I am in LOVE with heart rate alerts, because on easy runs I want to make sure that my heart is getting a good enough workout. I could go on and on about my love for Garmin, but I will refrain. By the way, if you need someone to take your 305 off your hands, I will gladly do so -- poor college student problems!

    ReplyDelete
  68. I love the heart rate monitor. I have switched to running mostly on the treadmill cuz of knee issues and being a single mom. But I hate holding onto the bar to get my heart rate. This will be so helpful. I also LOVE the teal accents!!!

  71. I'm a subscriber of your blog - what a fun giveaway, but not the reason why I follow...your blog is just so inspiring!! :) Ok checked out the Garmin page and LOVE that it can be synced to record accurate data from *indoor* workouts as well (we all know Michigan weather can be dicey at times, and sometimes the treadmill is the only option! :-P) - not to mention it is SO super cute!!! :) Good luck to all and thanks for the chance Katie! :)

    ReplyDelete
  72. Katie-I would love to have the Garmin to get more accurate data about my runs, indoor and out. I just wrote on my blog (http://jamesology.blogspot.com/) a couple days ago about being very frustrated with the app I use on my phone and it's terrible accuracy. I would also love to track my heart beat, also something my phone won't do. Thanks for the chance!

  95. Wow! Look at all of these responses. Katie - I would love to be entered in the drawing, but it's beginning to look like I might have a better chance at hitting the lottery. (You have to play to win - so that won't happen! lol) I kind of found a kindred spirit when I happened across your blog because I am working to lose weight for a million different reasons, but many of them are the same as yours. I have lost right at 65 pounds now after a fairly long stall at 50 pounds lost. One of the things that helped get me off of my plateau was walking and running. I've been doing both since the end of December and average about 20 miles per week (sometimes closer to 25!) I have about another 40 to go and would love love love to have a Garmin to help me along. There are obviously lots of features which would help me as I do my workouts but the distance and interval training would be the biggest help. Thanks for a chance to win one and thanks for all of your posts. It's great to see someone who has the same fears, insecurities and hurdles I do - - - and see them actually succeed! Thanks, Katie!

    ReplyDelete
  96. So much more fun to run. Please pick me!

    ReplyDelete
  97. Wow, you have a lot of posts to sort through. I'm interested in the Garmin because of the interval feature. I'm training for a half marathon, but my training partner is faster than me. I dread interval runs, but this would help give me the motivation and ability to get in some interval runs so I can keep up with her. So...pick me to help me keep my running buddy! ;)

Thanks so much for the opportunity :) -Katie Walker

  98. I would LOVE to win this! I have been reading every review I can find on them just to be sure since they cost so much. The feature I'm most excited about is simply the fact that it will tell me how far I've gone! I like to just take off and go and it's a pain to try and map it when I get home. It would be awesome to just look down at my wrist and see my stats!

    ReplyDelete

  103. I would be most excited about having accurate GPS and timer! My phone which I use for running is screwy sometimes. Thanks! I love the blog!

    ReplyDelete
  104. I love that this forerunner lets you create customized interval sessions and see the time for each interval. I just finished my last season of high school track, but I really want to continue training over the summer. I was thinking it would be different to do interval workouts without a coach to time me, but this pretty much solves my problems! haha :)

  105. I am a follower of this blog and I would love to win! I am working on losing 50 pounds this year, and the heart rate monitor would really help me measure how I am doing during my workouts.

    ReplyDelete
  106. Love the time/distance alert!

  107. I have been lusting over one of these since I found your blog a few months ago. You are such a motivation to me. I'm currently at my heaviest, but have committed to RUN my first 5K in October. Considering I can barely walk one now, I have some work to do. But I've got 6 months and I'll start with the Couch to 5K program but taking it slower than recommended. I'm most excited about the interval training feature which I know will be so helpful to me as I start out (in addition to heart rate monitor, speed, distance, the works!). Thank you!

    ReplyDelete
  108. I am MOST excited about the prospect of knowing my pace. I am rotten at pacing myself! Right now I use my spart phone. It's okay at recording the route with GPS, and it keeps my time. Pacing is the feature that I'm eager for.

  109. Right now, I am so sad to live in New Zealand :(

But all the best to the winner :)

& I look forward to hearing about your experiences with your new Garmin Katie.

  110. I love that it can be used indoors and outdoors. That is an awesome feature. Would love to have this!

  111. Okay, I would seriously LOVE to have a Garmin but cannot afford one at the moment. So my favorite thing about the 210 would be HAVING one. But I do love that it has a heartrate monitor - I got myself a $20 heartrate monitor and if I won I could put that thing in the trash where it belongs. :P

    ReplyDelete
  112. I would love this watch, I have had my eye on this model for a while but cant afford it. Plus, it matches my shoes! How about "No Weigh, Jose" for a team name?

    ReplyDelete
  113. Team name: Weapons of Mass Reduction. I love it!

    ReplyDelete
  114. I'm excited that it's not only cute, but matches my running shoes! Oh and the personalized interval setting will be very nice.

    ReplyDelete
  115. I think it's very cool that the 210 alerts the runner when their heartbeat is above or below targets! It would be so awesome to get this awesome Forerunner for my workouts! :) Much better than using my good 'ole fingers to track my heartbeat...Ha ha

You should name your team "The Reduced-Fat Runners"
    haha so cheesy :p

    ReplyDelete
  116. I'm most excited about the heart rate monitor! I think keeping your heart rate in range is extremely important and is often overlooked.

  118. I follow your blog! I like how easy the Forerunner210 is to use! I've never had a heart rate monitor & since reading your blog I've started reading more about them.

    ReplyDelete
  119. Hi Katie:
I, like so many others, could really use the Garmin. I'm working my way into running so the Garmin, with the heart rate monitor, is just what I need to motivate me to finally make the jump. My favorite features are the quick set-up and the heart rate monitor.
Here are my contributions to your Ragnar Relay team names:

No guts. Tight butts. ('nuff said)
Set fire to the fat. (Like the Adele song)
Scary Donuts, Weight Loss and Running. (this is a WTF? title just for giggles)

Thank you (and Garmin!) for the opportunity.

  120. The thing that most excites me about the Garmin is the capability to monitor your time/distance indoors. In the winter, I run on an indoor track, and while I can count the laps with my fingers, having a gadget do it for me would be fantastic.

  121. I think the Garmin Connect is the best part. It would be neat to see all my stats!

    Leslie

    ReplyDelete
  122. And for my second entry, I think you should call yourselves "The Lollapalosers"

    ReplyDelete
  123. There are so many things to love about this Garmin! My mom has one and I've been so jealous for so long! Anyway, there are two features that I am most excited about: the GPS function and the HR monitor. I'm training for a half marathon (second ever, first since having kids) and am trying to keep my HR within the appropriate ranges but its hard to track without a monitor. I also would love accurate information about my distance.

    ReplyDelete
  124. I would love to win this Garmin! I have been wanting one for a while to keep track of my pace and distance when doing workouts outdoors.

    ReplyDelete
  125. For my "bonus" entry...

    Weigh No More

Half-Fast (get it? half-assed because you lost body weight, fast because you run? it makes me giggle, anyway)

    1-800-GOT-thin

    Harder, Better, Faster, Smaller

  126. I would love to have a garmin to monitor my heartrate while I run. (I also think that model is super cute!) I am "new" to running and will be completing my first 5K next Saturday. I would have loved to run this 5K with a garmin.

I would love to be able to keep up with my pace during a run and see all of the data after. I love looking at all of the facts when I'm done with a run.
I'm still thinking about a team name....

    ReplyDelete
  128. My favorite feature of the 210 would have to be that it keeps track of my pace while I run. I have a tendency to slow down, and it would be nice to see that I need to get my butt in gear! :)

    ReplyDelete
  129. A great name for your Ragner Relay team would be "Nobese" :)

    ReplyDelete
  130. For the name, how 'bout "The Fat-Blasters."

OH MY GOD! OH MY GOD! I do not have a heart rate monitor of any kind, much less a GPS sport\fitness watch. And I don't have a Smart phone either. I use my ordinary cell phone's stop watch feature to time my progress (gives me the opportunity use some math skills figuring my minutes per mileage...joy, joy...not!)

Oh, let me count the ways of my salivating desire for the health gadget of a Garmin.
    *Ease of use (heck yeah!)
*Be able to step up your fitness level when ready with the customized interval session and ability of using a foot pod to track progression (heck of a motivator to see in print)
*A soft strap heart rate monitor with 5...count them 5 heart rate zones! Track calories burned and tell them to suck it...bad, bad calories.
*Not only outdoor, but also indoor capabilities with 98% accuracy. Can't use bad weather as an excuse to stop tracking your way to awesomeness.
*The ability to review all collection of workouts online, and can create or revamp your goals.
*Can track weight, body fat, body water and 6 other measurements. Holy Cow! (By the way, sweat is fat crying! So let it rain fat tears!)
*It's fast, and most importantly, it is accurate!
*And lastly, will be looking so cool & sleek sporting this cool Garmin Forerunner 210!!! All the other runners/walkers on my path will be so jealous and want one too!

Big thanks to you and Garmin for this opportunity! How exciting!

    Now, for team names:
    The Lite & Power Co.
    What Wall?
    FKNM-Fat Kid No More
Bare Your Soul (or) Baring our Souls
    Bleeding Feet to the Beat
    Extreme Makeover-Booty Edition
Mental Toughness x 100# (whatever is the most pounds lost)
    Suffer or Lose (We did!)
    Limit Breakers

Good luck to you and your team at the Ragnar Relay!

  136. I'm about to run my first half marathon on 5/5 (I just started running in mid-January, and could only run 1.5 miles after my first week of training. I'm now up to 10 miles!), and I've had to rely on Google street maps and our local trail map guide to plan my training runs. I'm really committed to running, so knowing how far I'm going on my training runs, and what my pace is, would be absolutely instrumental in helping me get better. It would literally change the way I run. :)

    ReplyDelete
  137. I love, love this give-away. I have been reading your blog for quite awhile but have never commented before.
I love th GPS feature to track progress and runs and the heart monitor, and the body fat/weight tracker.
    Ashley - campbellash@hotmail.com

    ReplyDelete
  138. This would be AWESOME! I've always wanted a Garmin, but they are just out of my budget right now. That being said, I think my favorite feature would have to be that you can track weight, body fat, and body water. I have a scale for just my weight so something that could help me track my body fat and water would be excellent! :)

As for possible names for your team, how about "Ain't Too Big to Run" or "WRFF-We Run For Fun" or "From Flab to Fab" or "Former Chunky Monkeys" LoL! :)

    ReplyDelete
  139. Too many awesome features to decide on one most appealing. But I would have to say having all the data (calories, distance, speed, etc) in one place would definitely beat logging everything separately into each tracking app. Not to mention the capability to use it indoors and out.

    ReplyDelete
  140. There are two features I would like most: 1) I need a good heart rate monitor in general; 2) being able to accurately track my jogs indoors and out. I love the GPS and footpod capabilities.

I am going to have to take some time to think of a team name.

    ReplyDelete
  141. My second entry ideas (I apologize in advance) :)
    -Skinny Dozen
    -We Shrunk Ourselves
    -The Runaways

  143. I currently have lost 45 pounds, and have 25 more to go!!! Now that I have dropped some weight, I joined a running group and its killing me that, I don't know what pace I am doing outside! The pace feature is what I love about the Garmin!! Please help me, i would love to have this product! By the way I love your blog!! I never comment but I read it everyday!

Also, the name I would suggest is..... The 12 Super Hero's
    Amy Goff ikappa@yahoo.com

    ReplyDelete
  144. I like the heart rate monitor aspect of the Garmin 210. I have heard you can't cheat the HR. ;) As for the names, I am terribly uncreative, but like something that highlights "strong" since I love that so much more than "skinny."

    ReplyDelete
  145. Wow so many responses! I love that Garmin is helping you do this! I can't think of anything about the 210 that I don't love but one of my favs would have to be the HR monitor. It is super cute and I could wear it pretty much anytime. And with the kids activities all over the town I wouldn't be worried about how to keep track of distance anymore! The absolute best part though is the price! With 3 busy kids, I can always find the money for their "needs" but rarely justify my own.

    ReplyDelete
  146. I'm very excited for the gps and heart monitor features. I think it will really help me step up my training!

And maybe a name could be "Fat to Relay Thin" Hahaha

Thanks Katie and Garmin for this chance!!

    -Shannon Carl

    ReplyDelete
  147. I am most excited about the customized interval session feature on the Garmin!

    ReplyDelete
  148. I love that the 210 makes it easier to go from outdoor to indoor workouts. It would be great to use this for running and workout classes!

    ReplyDelete
  149. Team name possibility: Fabulous Fit Finishers!

    ReplyDelete
  150. That's really nice of them to offer that! I'm going to enter. I'm a subscriber, even if my comments have dropped off over the last month. I'm still trying ot catch up from my honeymoon trip.

This is silly, but the thing I'd be most excited about is the GPS feature. I don't have any way of measuring how far I run without using the "build a route" feature in Spark, which is a bit cumbersome.

    ReplyDelete
  151. I would be excited to have a Garmin just in general! I'm trying to get into running and would love an accurate assessment of how fast I am and how many miles I've ran.

    Bridgette-bridgenann@gmail.com

    ReplyDelete
  152. And I do not have an original idea for your team name, but someone above suggested "Waist Management" and I think that is adorable!

    ReplyDelete
  153. I have been eyeing garmins for a while just can't afford one right now!! I absolutely love the fact that the 210 can be used outdoor and indoor with the footpad. Not to mention I would love to finally be able to know my true pace and heart rate!!

    -Leah :)

  154. I have been stalking the garmin site for months now. I am kinda new to running, 5 months. I think the biggest feature I am looking forward to most is the interval break down and being able to customize the intervals.

    ReplyDelete
  155. I really like the Heart Rate feature on the Garmin! It is an awesome give away and very exciting!

    ReplyDelete
  156. Holy Comments! lol
Oh my gosh, when I saw your post the other day about this upcoming giveaway, my heart about leaped out of my chest! Funny story (not that you'll be reading them by the time you get to this one! ;)) - All I talked about for MONTHS leading up to Christmas was how badly I wanted a Garmin. I'd browse the website with my boyfriend sitting next to me and talk incessantly about them. I'd always get the same response, "you don't need one, your phone does the same thing" (except it doesn't). Anyway...I just KNEW that I was getting one for Christmas. Instead, I got a new lens for my camera. NOT complaining about that, I was just SO sure I was getting the Garmin!

K...so I think what I'd be most excited about with the Garmin 210 (besides how awesome it looks with the cool teal color) is being able to tell what my splits/total time/distance are easily and linking it up to the computer with accuracy. The app I use occasionally on my phone doesn't seem to be very accurate all the time. It's hit or miss. OMG...it's not possible to pick one favorite part. lol

Can't wait to hear about your new Garmin! I know you have to be like a kid right now :)

Thank you (and GARMIN!) for this opportunity - I know whoever wins is just gonna be ecstatic!

  157. Ever since I started following your blog about 7 or 8 months ago, I have been wanting a Garmin. I would love to be able to accurately measure my outdoor exercise. So for me, the best thing about the Forerunner 210 is the ability to know your distance and time so that you can continue to see your improvements.

    ReplyDelete
  158. I think a great name for your Ragnar team would be "FatBusters"...like Ghostbusters...and you could even wear the cool costumes :) I'm sure you could make those!

Or, "True Life: We Can't Stop Running".

    ReplyDelete
  159. I think I'd be happiest about the foot pod option for indoor running. I currently use runkeeper on my phone, but when I ran on the treadmill yesterday, I couldn't get "distance" data. =(

I would LOVE to have a Garmin!

    ReplyDelete
  160. For the team name "bonus" entry - Hmmm...there are a lot of really good ones already!

This one doesn't really take into account the weight loss commonality with you all, but it is the first thing I thought of with the "2 men 10 women" thing. You'd have to know the TV show 'Two Guys, a Girl and a Pizza Place".

    - 2 guys, 10 girls and a relay race

    Lisa Edwards

    ReplyDelete
  161. Now for the "bonus" since I am not the most creative this could be sad (;

  162. I am excited about the ability to track my distance when I run laps in my school's gym!

    ReplyDelete
  163. I am excited about the intervals feature!

A good name for your Ragnar team is "Drop it like it's hot"

    ReplyDelete
  164. "The Ones that lost a bunch of weight"-like the titles of Friends episodes

    ReplyDelete
  165. I would love to know my pace since I'm completely "lost" when I run!

I'm subscribed on Google Reader. Is that the same thing???

    ReplyDelete
  166. Maybe a possible name for your team could be Fat to FASTEST, or The faster losers

hmmmm...not sure if either one of those are good or not.

    ReplyDelete
  167. OMG I am so excited about this contest! I have wanted a Garmin forever and especially since I was lucky enough to try yours out! I am most excited about the GPS functionalily because I currently use the Nike + iPod and though I have tried to calibrate it several times it is not as accurate as I would like. I also like that you can use it indoors too. THANK YOU for including Canadians! :o)

  168. I lost 120lb myself by becoming and runner and last year I had to stop running for a year due to some heart issues. I just started running again 3 months ago (and working off the 40lb I gained from not being able to run) so it's basic but I'd really love the heart rate feature so I would know better how my heart is faring (extreme tachycardia during easy long runs was my issue).

    ReplyDelete
  169. I am so UNcreative, but what about Fat2Fab? But don't pick that. =) I loved the Waist Management idea and so many others!!

    ReplyDelete
  170. I really can't pick one feature that I like the most - I like it all! I've just started doing a 13 week to a 10k walk/run program (although at my weight it may be more like 23 weeks). I've been sticking to the treadmill for now, since I have access to one at work. But I'd love to have the gps to more accurately track my pace and distance for outdoors, which I plan on switching to this summer. Finding your blog has definitely been a big motivator in getting my to try to start running.

    ReplyDelete
  171. Weight No More, Mission Slimpossible, Weapons of Mass Reduction, are all possible names for your team! It will be such fun to hear what you all decide on.:)

    ReplyDelete
  172. I've been following your blog for a while now ( I found you from Pinterest). I have to say that I find it very motivational in my own weight loss journey, so thank you for sharing your story. I think that the Garmin 210 would be an awesome tool to help me to continue in my weight loss journey, I have started doing the couch 2 5k, I've been trying to track my progress by using a pedometer which, needless to say, is not very accurate. I also think it would be an asset to help me monitor my health through tracking weight and body fat.

I am a S U P E R slow runner 4.3 miles an hour :( but it seems like outside i run to fast and have to stop....."The widdlers" (you guys widdled away the weight) "light weights"

Awesome giveaway! Thanks!!!

  180. I am most excited about the fact that I could, as a beginner, track the times on my miles. I am in the middle of trying to lose 150 pounds and I think walking and being able to track my times, location, etc. would be beneficial and motivating. Thanks for the giveaway! :) :)

  187. Oooh exciting! I subscribe via Google Reader, and I think just being able to set intervals is a great feature. I know that sounds v basic, but I always have trouble figuring it out on my watch. (And I don't even have a watch right now!)

  188. Hi Katie,

You've got such an inspirational blog!! I have loved your stories and struggles, they are so real and easy to relate to. I'd like to enter the giveaway!! I'm training to run my first marathon and have been using my cell phone as a gps tracker but it's so unreliable sometimes....I'll run 5 miles but it will say I've run 10 miles....crazy stuff...but having a watch with gps and a heart rate monitor would be a blessing!! Thanks for all the inspiration:)

    ReplyDelete
  189. I would really love to know my pace. I am just a beginning runner (actually, a re-beginner), and I would like some way to see how I am doing, pace wise. That, and knowing how far I have run each time.

    ReplyDelete
  190. As much as I'd love to win the Garmin, my hubby has a 305.

But how about this for a name "Half Fast" and if you say it fast enough, it'll be "half a$$ed" since most of you probably have less than half of your bum left!

    ReplyDelete
  191. I would love a Garmin! I am 15 pounds away from reaching my 100 weight loss goal. I am looking to take my running to the next level and equipment like the Garmin gives great information on performance. I think the feautures I am most excited about would be the heart rate monitor and the customizble interval sessions. I think running will be the key to my last few pounds. I have been on a pleateau for MONTHS! Ready to blast through it. Currently I just time myself using my cell phone. I also do a lot of hiking and some mountain biking. It would be great to have a piece of equipment I can take with me in al my sports. :)

Thanks so much for the opportunity Katie! Glad they replaced yours. Seems like a really great company

I have wanted one forever but haven't felt like I could justify spending the money. However I just bought some new (pricey) running shoes so I think this would go very well with those ;)
And I subscribe to your blog via Google Reader.. Does that count? haha
    Thanks for offering this giveaway!

  195. Fingers and toes crossed this arrives at my door! I have been driving and marking distances in order to know who far I walk! My husband will drop me off in order to reach my goals. I am just beginning to run, I have my first mini marathon to kick of the KY Derby next weekend. I have been looking for a Garmin and thought about asking for one as a b-day gift, however I know that is not realistic right now.
The best feature for me would be the ability to down load my stats and see my improvements and goals.
    I appreciate this opportunity!

As for a team name: The Westwards Bound!

    ReplyDelete
  196. Hey Katie - I do not have a Garmin and I'd LOVE to win one. I'm just getting started on my journey of being dedicated to shaping up. My 30th b-day is peeking around the corner and my goal is to make some distinct progress in moving my body and seeing food as fuel in the next couple of months before my b-day arrives. I've taken a big step and signed up for my first 5k - I think the fun technology of the Garmin would definitely inspire me to move more! I think it's great that it works outdoors or in and am super intrigued by all of the stats it gathers!

    ReplyDelete
  197. I was thinking of the phrase "Move it or Lose it" with regards to your team name - I kinda think "Moved It and Lost It!" would be fun :)

    ReplyDelete
