An Ironic Thanksgiving

Today has been kind of ironic, considering it's Thanksgiving. I know I have many blessings to count (more than I could EVER count!) but everything seems to be going wrong and it was just one of those bad days--a day that I wish I could fast-forward to tomorrow.

I've been in a LOT of pain for the last two days--so I guess I spoke too soon when I said I thought the new medication was working. Then I learned that my insurance company denied my cervical spine MRI, even though they approved the lumbar spine MRI. I have so much pain in my neck and shoulders, I'm just stunned that they denied it.

I was supposed to write my weekly running recap today but I haven't been running much--only 1-2 times per week for the last couple of weeks. I don't want to blame the new medication, but I really do think it has made me tired and unmotivated to run. I don't get dizzy anymore unless I take the doses too close together (I take it three times a day) so I try to allow at least six hours between doses.

Last night was super fun, though. We had a "family night", since both Jerry and Noah were off work. We ordered pizza for dinner, played a fun game that is all about talking to one another (I'll link to it in my favorite things post--which I will publish on Saturday. I wish I'd gotten it done last week!) Then we set up the Christmas tree; this is the earliest we've ever set it up.

I'll save most of my photos for tomorrow's Friday Night Photos, but here is my favorite. Naturally, Duck was already climbing the tree before we even finished putting it together. I couldn't even see him in there, but I was trying to get him to look at me so I could at least see his eyes for a picture.

Finally, I said, "Treat?" and immediately, he popped his head out and looked right at me. It was perfect! Hahaha

I hope you all had a very happy Thanksgiving!

  1. Love Duck! It will be interesting to see what are two kittens will do. There is a blog post for ya, funny animal Christmas pictures :).

It might help to discuss the denial with your doctor or insurance company. Sometimes the doctor needs to provide more or different info to get it approved. Dont give up on it yet.

  2. So sorry you're still in pain. Chronic pain can be incredibly fatiguing in a way that someone who isn't in constant pain can't really understand. ❤️

The Duck-in-the-tree photo is pretty funny, especially as it was a response to your saying, "Treat?" 😹

I used to publish ALL comments (even the mean ones) but I recently chose not to publish those. I always welcome constructive comments/criticism, but there is no need for unnecessary rudeness/hate. But please--I love reading what you have to say! (This comment form is super finicky, so I apologize if you're unable to comment)
