I think what has been the most helpful in staying on track this week was that I divided up my 49 weekly PP at the beginning of the week, so instead of aiming for 26 PP per day, I just added 7 per day, and aimed for 33. Before, I would end up using all 49 PP in the first half of the week, and then I would struggle to stay on track for the last few days. By dividing them up evenly, I stay satisfied all week long. Then I use my activity PP as a "bonus" for something I really want (like the cookie I had on Sunday).
I also finished a whole week of the Hansons' method of marathon training. I've never trained for six days a week before, so I was worried about how well I would adjust. The extra day didn't bother me at all, but I was definitely ready for a rest day today!
I think the nausea and stomach issues I've had the past few days have been from anxiety. For some reason, my anxiety has been really bad lately, and this morning, I felt on the verge of a full-blown panic attack. I haven't had a panic attack in a long time. Usually, when I have anxiety for no reason, it goes away pretty quickly. Hopefully, I'll be feeling back to normal in a couple of days.
It was absolutely gorgeous outside today--in the high 60's/low 70's and sunny. I turned off the air conditioner, and opened up all the windows in the house. It felt so good, and that helped with my mood a bit. It's supposed to be another nice day tomorrow.
Today was my parents' 42nd wedding anniversary...

I thought it was funny, because my mom said that rather than just she and my dad doing something together, they wanted to take us out to dinner! Nathan, my younger brother, had to work at 5, so we ended up going to an early dinner at Red Lobster before he went to work.
I looked up the menu before we left, so I could plan out what to order. Seafood is usually a safe bet, unless it's fried. On their seasonal menu, they had Mango Rum Tilapia with Pineapple Salsa. The lunch portion was only 7 PointsPlus, and it sounded really good, so that's what I decided to order. I got a double side of broccoli instead of mashed potatoes or fries.
My older brother, Brian, and his girlfriend Becky, came in from Minnesota yesterday for just a couple of hours. They were going to stay for Noah and Eli's baseball game last night, and when we got to the field, it was pouring rain. The umpire called the game off when we got there, so they didn't get to play. Then as soon as we got home, the sun was out and the rain was totally gone. Bummer. Tonight is their last game, and thankfully, it's gorgeous outside!
I'm having the same maintenance issues with eating, thinking I can have way too many "treats". I've stayed within my weight range (although how, I don't know) and it's encouraging to see you get back on track. Maybe I can do the same. Congrats on your parents and 42 years. They were an adorable couple on their wedding day and still are!
ReplyDeleteGetting back on track was HARD, but last week's weigh in was very scary! I definitely tend to eat too many treats in the summer--namely, ice cream ;)
DeleteI had to laugh when I saw the picture of your dinner. My husband and I went on a date to Red Lobster the other night and I ordered the tilapia too. Not realizing it already came with broccoli, I ordered that as a side in order to avoid potatoes (too tempting)and ended up with quite a load of broccoli! :)
ReplyDeleteIt was definitely a lot of broccoli! I regretted it later, when my stomach felt all bloated :/
DeleteI'll never forget the corn/crab cakes with mango salsa I ordered one of our last nights on our honeymoon in HI. The taste was just so unappetizing, even then, at my fattest, I couldn't eat it! I have a feeling it was cilantro, which I've come to realize I HATE! If it's in jarred salsa, I can't tell, and I'd like to keep it that way.
ReplyDeleteI used to hate cilantro, but over the past couple of years, I've really started to like it. It's such a unique taste! Took a long time to get used to.
DeleteHow WONDERFUL! Happy anniversary to your adorable parents!!
ReplyDeleteThanks! I'll let them know you said so :)
DeleteHooray for a good week! And happy anniversary to your parents!
ReplyDeleteIt's always disappointing to get the kids ready for a game and get all the way there to find out it's cancelled. Hope the sun keeps shining for you all day today. We woke up to some pretty chilly temps in Illinois this morning (mid 50's). Very unusual! But I love it!
The 50's are the perfect temp for me--makes me excited for fall! Although I do have to get through August, first... ;)
DeleteOh my goodness - look how young your parents look in their wedding picture :) How cute! Good work on getting back on track. I am struggling myself with tracking my food and not letting summer fun take over!
ReplyDeleteThey WERE very young--18! I was still surprised when I saw the picture, because my mom could probably pass for about 14 years old there ;)
DeleteI have been having some maintenance issues lately. Same thing, a few more snacks than I should. And they aren't even a 10 on the scale of loving them, just average.
ReplyDeleteBut this week, I started doing the Chris Powell 9 minute exercises that I saw on Dr Oz and Pintrest, and by doing them each morning strait out of bed, it seems to be making me feel like I have more commitment and pride thru the rest of the day. I only had one day that I wanted more food thinking...well I did that 9 minutes AND my normal workout. But I don't think I burn very many calories in that tiny workout, it's just more to give me a little goal I can say I accomplished, a little thing for me.
I know exactly what you mean about snacking on things that aren't even worth it. I don't know why I do that sometimes... I'll go off plan for something really stupid. If I'm going to go off plan, I might as well wait for something really great!
DeleteI wish it was nice enough to open up all of our windows here! It's suppose to be in the 80's all week which is actually a break in the weather! It's been upper 90's for the last couple of weeks. Running has not been fun :(
ReplyDeleteIck, running in that kind of heat is miserable! We had a heat wave that was in the high 90s for a couple of weeks. I'm loving this cooler weather this week!
DeleteYour parents are so adorable, and they look like they got married at 14 yrs. old. LOL! Congrats to them for 42 of commitment years!
ReplyDeleteSorry, that was "42 years of commitment."
DeleteThey were just 18 when they got married--they do look way too young to be tying the knot, don't they?!
DeleteYou parents are so adorable. They got married just 10 months after me. They looked about as young as Du & I were. He had turned 18 about a week earlier and I was 19. When I think about my kids and if they had gotten married that young, I would have thought they were nuts. But sometimes it works, and when it does, it's wonderful. I go to Red Lobster sometimes, usually I get the tilapia, but I haven't tried the pineapple salsa. I tried some mango salsa at Ruby Tuesday's on Tilapia once and I wasn't a big fan. I guess, I'm just not a fan of fruit salsa.
ReplyDeleteSpeaking of salsa, I put some chicken breasts in the crockpot this morning and tried the famous Pinterest recipe of adding a jar of salsa and taco seasoning. I am going to make quesadillas for dinner. Hope they're good cooked like that.
I've seen that Pinterest recipe lots of times, and have yet to try it. Let me know what you think!
DeleteI've made it and it's quite good. There was a lot of liquid that I had to drain off in Oder to make the tacos too drippy. It makes a lot and freezes well.
DeleteCongrats to your parents! That is a long time to be married. I think you look like your mom in the wedding photo.
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry your anxiety is so bad lately. Mine seems to have let up, but I know how it feels when it's bad. It's like I've run into a brick wall and I just feel exhausted from it. I also get headaches and my stomach will hurt.
I think it might have something to do with Jerry getting a new job; we've had a lot of changes around here, so that may have peaked my anxiety. Hoping it calms down as we getting settled into a new routine!
DeleteHappy Annivesary to your parents!! What a cute photo of them! I always thought you resembled your dad more, but seeing that picture of your mom - you look just like her, too!
ReplyDeleteMost everyone says I look just like my dad. My brothers definitely do!
Deletethat's awesome that you were able to lose about 4 pounds in a week just by sticking to your points. it was my first week on WW last week and I only lost half a pound...i was also over my weekly points by about 20, hmmm...I did the same thing you used to do which means i used up all my points the fist half of the week and then i was screwed for the following few days. hope to do better this week!
ReplyDeleteYour parents were married the day I was born!! I turned 42 yesterday.
ReplyDeleteHappy belated birthday!! I'm 42, too, wOO HOO!
DeleteGood for you Katie! I always do that with my 49 points, divide it up into a daily amount. Otherwise, the program isn't liveable for me. I have never paid any attention to activity points before. How do you figure out how many you earned? Is there a chart?
ReplyDeleteYour parents are adorable! What a wonderful picture! Love it,
ReplyDeleteCongrats to your parents!! I was two months old when they were married... so they are still young newlyweds!!
