Since I’m getting my surgery today, I decided to post this list I put together of 100 things that make me happy. Even reading this list makes me happy! :)
- When my kids are playing nicely together.
- When my husband does housework without me asking him to.
- Wearing a pair of brand new socks.
- Losing weight.
- Wine.
- Having a clean house.
- Getting a massage from my husband.
- Waking up in the middle of the night and realizing I’d only been asleep for an hour or so—which means I have a LOT longer to sleep!
- Knitting.
- Completing a project that I’ve started.
- Autumn.
- Spending time with my siblings.
- Chatting over wine or coffee with my girlfriends.
- Watching my favorite TV shows.
- Wearing fleece pajamas when it’s cold outside.
- Reading a book that’s so good I can’t put it down.
- Cooking (as long as I’m not starving when I’m cooking)
- Feeling good about how I look.
- Shopping for things for the house.
- Spending time with old friends.
- Listening to interesting people tell their life stories.
- Sleeping on my Tempur-pedic mattress.
- Accomplishing a goal.
- Listening to Maxwell.
- Beer that smells like skunk.
- Playing Guesstures with friends.
- Giving a really cool gift to someone.
- Paying off a debt.
- Eating fresh pineapple in the summer.
- Grocery shopping.
- Watching cats play.
- A hot bath in the winter.
- Being able to look up answers to my questions on the Internet.
- Lifetime Movie Network.
- Having a positive number in my bank account.
- Being able to stay at home with my kids.
- Looking at pictures from my childhood.
- Scary movies.
- Garlic sauce from La Pita.
- Spending time at home.
- Rearranging furniture.
- Clearance sales.
- Finishing a half-marathon.
- Organizing a closet or cupboard.
- Playing board games.
- Playing solitare on my computer.
- Thinking of the funny things my kids do and say.
- Browsing through patterns on ravelry.com.
- Making “To Do” lists.
- Getting a sincere compliment.
- Getting “real” e-mail (letters from people, not automated e-mails)
- Feeling refreshed after a hot shower.
- Going to the zoo.
- Surprising someone in a positive way.
- Eminem’s “Lose Yourself”
- Learning something new and interesting.
- Chopping vegetables (celery and onions in particular)
- Hot tea on a cold night.
- “New Car” scented air freshener.
- Putting on a sweatshirt fresh out of the drier.
- Spending Halloween at my parents’ house and celebrating Mark’s birthday.
- Reverse engineering a knit or crocheted item.
- The color green.
- Corn on the cob.
- Romantic kisses in movies.
- Spending the evenings outside during the summer.
- Reading comments on my blog.
- Having a good/funny/interesting status update on Facebook.
- The smell of my kids when they just get out of the bath.
- When Jerry laughs a genuine laugh from something I say.
- Getting a refund for something.
- Home-cooked meals.
- A genuine hug from a friend.
- Hearing a baby laugh.
- Freshly vacuumed carpet.
- Listening to my kids hold a conversation with each other.
- Having a $0 balance on my credit cards.
- Candlelight.
- Playing badminton.
- My nose piercing.
- Getting pictures developed.
- A super-crisp, sweet apple.
- Being able to get just about any book I want from the library.
- Feeling zoned out to the world when I run.
- A nicely-made bed.
- Wii Fit Plus.
- Praying when I feel insecure or worried about something.
- Really old photographs.
- Trying new foods.
- Barbecuing with friends.
- Having the windows open on a breezy summer day.
- Riding on The Raptor at Cedar Point.
- My dad and brother coming home from Iraq safely.
- Spending gift cards.
- Men who play the piano.
- Riding on a train.
- Chivalry.
- Sharing memories with friends.
- Getting a hug from my kids “just because”.
- Sitting in front of a fireplace.

If more people concentrated on the things that they have and love they'd be a lot happier instead of dwelling on what they want but don't have. Thanks for posting that you have a nose piercing! I was going to ask, because I thought I saw it in a picture, but I wasn't 100% sure!

ReplyDeleteI hope everything is going well! Reading other comments...I'm guessing by 'beer that smells like skunk', you're saying you enjoy beer that Other People say "smells like skunk". (but to beer lovers, it's hoppy and delicious) I totally agree - I love that stuff ;)
