When I run for maintenance (without a racing goal), my knee is fine. But once I increased my mileage quite a bit during marathon training, my stupid knee started hurting again. It's frustrating! If you train carefully, and don't try to do too much at once, you shouldn't have to worry. My end time was actually faster than when running the entire thing.
