Friday Night Photos

Friday Night Photos :)  Dave and Renee are coming over tonight--just to visit, but we usually end up playing Euchre. I have to (try to) keep this short so I can clean up the house.

Check out the size of these blackberries! They were enormous. My dad's neighbor grows them and my dad said they always turn out like this--he brought me a big basket of them.

A few days ago, I was looking at some pictures on my phone and I noticed this one--completely weird. I looked at the timestamp at it was taken at 2:55 AM (that morning). I have NO recollection of taking this picture from my bed! Thankfully, I didn't send it to anyone or even text anyone in my sleep, haha.

Eli and I had to go to Kohl's to return something and TJ Maxx is next door. They have cheap pet stuff, so I decided to go in and get the cats new beds since we're going to be gone next week. We have a cat sitter coming, but I still feel bad leaving them! So I got them beds to keep them comfy. It was funny--they all picked one and were napping within 10 minutes.

Later, Chick and Duck discovered they could play through the side of one of the beds. Chick (on the left) kept pushing his paw against the side and then Duck would try and grab it from the outside. They do this underneath blankets a lot!

Remember in 2017 when I was completely obsessed with Mott's Fruit Snacks? I used to order the big boxes of them from Amazon, but then Mott's changed their recipe for the ones I ordered. I was super bummed (I didn't like them much) and I quit buying them. Well, I went to Menard's a few days ago and I found these--I had no idea they had this flavor! They are really good. I miss the flavor that was shaped like carrots from the previous ones I bought, but I like these!

I made these White Chicken Enchiladas for dinner a few days ago, and THEY WERE SO GOOD. Literally one of the best foods I've ever eaten. And they were really simple!

Yesterday was such an exciting day for me! Last week, I wrote about how I chose to return the Saatva mattress we had bought in the fall. I just couldn't get comfortable on it and was sleeping terribly (well, more than usual, anyway). Customer service asked if I'd like to try a different Saatva mattress (one that is less firm), and I said sure (I was waiting for it to be shipped). But after I wrote that post, I started thinking about it more, and I decided to just get a refund rather than try a different Saatva mattress.

We had a Tempurpedic mattress for 17 years and I loved it--I never wanted to get rid of it. But it was old and need to be replaced. So we tried the Saatva for something different. Anyway, I decided to get the refund from the Saatva and use it for a Tempurpedic (there was only a $100 difference). I felt so much better about that choice! I ordered it on Saturday and it arrived yesterday. It arrived vacuum packed in a box. We laid it out on the bed frame and then opened the packaging and watched it come to life.

(A couple of people asked about the model of Tempurpedic we bought--it's called the TEMPUR-cloud. It's the most basic model they have. I would love to get their TEMPUR-breeze, but I just can't imagine spending that much money on a mattress! Here is a link to the TEMPUR-cloud.)

I also bought two pillows. These pillows are nice--they are filled with the Tempur material, but it's torn into little pieces. You can unzip the inner fabric to remove as much or as little as you want to make the pillow more or less firm. My back hurts when I use a tall pillow, so I removed about half of the filling. You can see the difference in this picture:

Jerry removed some filling too, and now I have enough of the filling to make us each a bolster pillow!

I washed my Brooklinen sheets, which now fit so well without that 14.5" Saatva mattress, and the bed was SO comfy. I wanted to lie on it all day.

I was so excited to feel so cozy while trying to fall asleep last night! It's usually my hips and lower back that hurt the most when I'm in bed, but this mattress helped tremendously. I'm really glad I made the decision to go with what I know I like.

Jerry and I got to try out the new table in the garage. I looked on Facebook Marketplace for some bar stools and I got a great deal on them. I forgot to take a picture! But I'll post it next week. We played Carcassonne on his day off--we played two games of it over the course of about four hours--it was a long evening!

Have a great weekend :)

  1. Tempurpedic forever! I love mine. We bought it during my last pregnancy and I basically didn't get out of bed the last month.

  2. That is the cutest picture of you in bed! Is there a particular style of Tempurpedic you bought or is there just one model?

    1. Thank you! I bought their most basic model called the TEMPUR-Cloud. When I bought my first one, I think they only had one model. I wish I could afford their TEMPUR-breeze! But I'm super happy with the TEMPUR-Cloud.

    1. Sure! I'll update the post with a link--but it's called the TEMPUR-cloud. It's their most basic model.

  4. Oh the mattress stories I could tell. We're on our 7th (8th) mattress in 28 years. We might have to go with one of those half n' half mattresses. I want memory foam. He can't stand it. We just got a bed that has slats you can adjust to your body shape. Fingers crossed that one works. Sigh.

I used to publish ALL comments (even the mean ones) but I recently chose not to publish those. I always welcome constructive comments/criticism, but there is no need for unnecessary rudeness/hate. But please--I love reading what you have to say! (This comment form is super finicky, so I apologize if you're unable to comment)
