Since she certainly did her share of spoiling Noah rotten while he was staying at her house, I decided to take Remy for a walk this evening. I am definitely not a "dog person", but it was the least I could do. We walked about 3 miles, and on the way back to the car, we stopped at a frozen custard stand so I could buy him an ice cream cone...
I wasn't really in the mood for ice cream. I KNOW--what the heck, right?! I must be coming down with something.
Anyway, on to the giveaway...
A company called NatureBox contacted me recently and asked if I would like to try their July box. I checked out their website, and was intrigued. When I was a kid, I used to LOVE buying grab bags from the dollar store--the whole mystery of not knowing what you were buying always sucked me in ;)
Which is one of the reasons I think this company is pretty fun--you pay a monthly subscription, and they send you a box filled with 4-6 different bags of snacks. Each month has different products, so you never know what you're going to get. A lot of the snacks look like varieties of nuts and dried fruits, which you know I LOVE. All of their products contain:
NatureBox has very generously offered to give a box away to one lucky Runs for Cookies reader! (I'm sorry international friends, but you must live in the U.S. for this one). FYI, the box you get will not be the same as the box I got--it will be a future month's box. Also, they cannot customize the box for dietary needs (i.e. gluten free, nut allergies, etc) at this time--although it's a possibility for the future.
To enter the giveaway, just leave a comment here telling me what you look for when choosing a snack.
NatureBox is also offering 25% off your first month of subscription if you use the promo code ZESTY (the 25% discount is only applicable to the month-to-month subscription. 6 month subscriptions receive 1 month free and 12 month subscriptions receive 3 months free).
(In full disclosure, I was given a NatureBox for free to review, but I was not paid for the post and all opinions are truthful).
Ingredients I can pronounce!
ReplyDeleteMy snacks have to be healthy and include both protein and carbs to keep me going and last me until the next meal! My favorite snack is a chopped apple or pear in greek yogurt with stevia and cinnamon
ReplyDeleteIngredients I look for are protein, 'healthy' fats, and low(er) in sugar. I try to avoid anything artificial... but if cookies are involved, none of the above applies :).
ReplyDeleteMy snacks depend on the time of day. For some reason, I look for crunchy snacks in the morning - like carrots or nuts. In the afternoon, after a day of dealing with my 8th grade students, I need chocolate. :)
ReplyDeleteGood balance, and of course the yum factor:)
ReplyDeleteOoh, I've been looking to try this! I try to find snacks that are filling, and that fall squarely into salty, sweet, or savory depending on what I'm craving...
ReplyDeleteProtein! So it will keep my full longer.
ReplyDeleteThis sounds awesome! What I look for in snacks depends on how hungry I am and my mood, if I'm grumpy/sad I will go for bad-for-me sugary snacks and if I'm feeling good I usually go for almonds & dried fruit. :)
ReplyDeleteI love chocolate flavored!
ReplyDeleteI always look at the number of calories in one serving.
ReplyDeleteI lie anything sweet and salty! And healthy of course! :)
ReplyDeleteI love fruit and cheese :)
ReplyDeleteI prefer anything salty with a tiny bit of heat. This sounds like a fun idea to get something different every month.
ReplyDeleteOooh Yumm!!!
ReplyDeleteI look for something delicious and filling but healthy!
ReplyDeleteI like find some snacks with protien. So I tend to head toward the nuts first. However, I enjoy some sweet snacks too. So trail mix is right up my ally!
ReplyDeleteI look at everything. Calories, carbs, protein and I make sure the sugar content isn't over the top!
ReplyDeleteI like low-calorie snacks with a good amount of fiber to fill me up. i am constantly snacking throughout the day, so i usually look for small portions, whether it is individually packaged or easily packed up in a baggy or tupperware. anything with chocolate and peanut butter brings me to my kneeeeees
ReplyDeleteI try to find things that are mainly natural and contain no artificial sweeteners.
ReplyDeleteI always look for a crunchy factor. The more my mouth chews, the more full I feel. I know, it's weird.
ReplyDeleteI look for low calorie sweets! I'm a sucker for 'em!
ReplyDeleteThis is a great giveaway and a great idea from a company standpoint. I've never heard of anything like it but what a cool idea to do a "grab bag" type subscription-Love it!
ReplyDeleteAnyway, what I usually look for in snacks are salty mixed with sweet and prefer it to be things with less than 3-5 ingredients-preferably all natural. I love "trail mix" types of snacks and looooove me some dried fruit! lol
Bridgette
When looking for snacks I am open to anything that is "real food". No fake/processed food. Lots of protein and yum too!
ReplyDeleteI snack a lot at work, so I like to find snacks that are "clean" on my hands - things that I can eat without feeling like I have to wash my hands after (like Pirate booty or heavily flavored pretzels, that sort of thing). I'd love to see if these guys have anything like that!
ReplyDeleteI look for snacks that have natural ingredients, something with a lot of protein (since I don't really like meat and have a hard time with protein) and something with a little crunch!
ReplyDeleteI look for something healthy and yummy! :)
ReplyDeleteI try to look for snacks that aren't too high in fat. Right now I LOVE a cup of white cheddar popcorn mixed with 1/4 cup of dark chocolate raisinettes. Yum!
ReplyDeleteI would love to try these. What I look for in snacks is the ingredients. I prefer all natural ingredients as those are healthiest! Good luck!!
ReplyDeleteI look for snacks with a good amount of protein and/or fat. It's REALLY easy to find carbs to snack on, but the other macronutrients sometimes pose a challenge.
ReplyDeleteHas to be tasty and have nutritional value (protein is always good). Have to admit convenience plays a part too...
ReplyDeleteI look for sweet, but not too much processed sugar. Snacks I can give my grandchild without her parents telling me I sugared her up. I'm also a trail mix addict!!
ReplyDeleteWhen I choose a snack I look for a combination of nuts, fruits, granola, and possibly chocolate pieces. That way, it's full of so much flavor, I can't eat too much of it at once.
ReplyDeleteI like a snack that is easy to make, and a combination of flavors is awesome! Dried fruit and nuts is a favorite. :)
ReplyDeleteI like a snack that is satisfying but also good for me. I don't like snacks with ingredients that I don't know. I also want it to be something quick, not something I have to take awhile to prepare.
ReplyDeleteI love surprises! This seems right up my alley. When looking for a snack, I look for something that will keep me full for a while, and something with a minimal amount of or no dairy.
ReplyDeleteWhen picking a snack, it really depends on the mood I'm in. Rarely do I like a salty snack, but I'm pretty partial to salty and sweet mixed. :)
ReplyDeleteSomething that will satisfy for not a ton of calories.
ReplyDeleteSara H.
I look for healthy snacks but lately I've been using the fooducate app on my iPhone. You scan a bar code of the item and it gives it a grade- and then tells you how much sugar it has, it it has artificial colors etc. it has really opened my eyes to what I thought were "healthy" snacks!!!
ReplyDeleteI like snacks that are sweet and salty!
ReplyDeleteI just found your blog a couple of days ago and I love it. I try to stay away from all the sweet snacks that are out there. They are just to much temptation for me. I love raisin, especially yogurt covered ones, and sunflower seeds. I could eat my weight in both of them!
ReplyDeleteWhat a neat idea!
ReplyDeleteIn a snack, I look for something healthy, but that has enough protein to keep me full for a while!
When picking a snack I look for something that has very few ingredients and if I can't pronounce something on the label I pass on it.
ReplyDeleteP.S your sister's dog is a cutie!!!
Healthy snacks, no long lists of chemicals, organic if I can find it.

ReplyDeleteWhat dont I like about snacks? Lol
ReplyDeleteI look for the fewest number of ingredients. The fewer the better. I do not overprocessed foods. I want real, natural snacks. :) And they have to taste good too :)
Chris Newmark
Salty and filling!
ReplyDeleteI want snacks that are
ReplyDeleteHealthy AND tasty!!
I look for something filling and delicious! And hopefully not too bad for me :)
ReplyDeleteWhen I look for snacks, I look for real ingredients I can pronounce. I avoid artificial sweeteners, and hydrogenated fats. I try to also avoid high fructose corn syrup. I look for something that fuels my body and my children's bodies.
ReplyDeleteFor a snack, I look for foods that are natural, and not processed. I like about 150-200 calories, and prefer something salty (though certainly won't turn down something sweet!). Favorites include a boiled egg, pita bread with hummus, an apple or any fruit, low-carb tortilla with peanut butter, or a handful of walnuts or almonds.
ReplyDeleteJoan R.
I should look for things that have a combination of healthy fats, protein, and good carbs, but in reality taste is my biggest priority!
ReplyDeleteSomething that tastes good, had something good for me in it, and doesn't have too many calories per serving.
ReplyDeleteI look for something that tastes good
ReplyDeletebmweida at yahoo dot com
In the past I would say that it didn't matter as long as it was chocolate but now I am trying very hard to choose healthier lower calorie snacks...wish me luck! :)
ReplyDeleteI always look for ingredients that will keep me fuller longer!! No more empty calories :D
ReplyDeleteI look for something yummy that's got enough protein to keep me full.

ReplyDeleteI generally like sweet snacks. But I also love salty and crunchy!
ReplyDeleteoh my goodness, yum! this sounds exactly like something that i would love. i definitely look for the sweet/salty combo along with convenience and nutritional value.
ReplyDeleteI love salty snacks and look for something that is easy to grab quickly!
ReplyDeleteFilling but guilt free
ReplyDeleteI look for what I am craving at the moment then I flip the bag over to see calories but also the serving size. That can trick you big time. Oh and price usually is last lol.
ReplyDeleteOh how fun!:) sounds intriguing.
ReplyDeleteI'm a big fan of salty snacks-- since tryin to eat healthier, I have traded my Doritos obsession for Pirates booty. At least those are baked right??:)
I like salty/sweet snacks like trail mix, or the sweet and salty granola bars. but i buy whats on sale, and lower calorie when possible.
ReplyDeleteYum yum yum! I look for snacks that have a good combination of protein and fiber--that seems to keep me full the longest.
ReplyDeleteI like something like Gardettos for a snack and if not that something healthy and tastes great.
ReplyDeleteJoanne H.
All natural ingredients!!! Awesome idea!
ReplyDeleteSnacks have to be simple and quick, I'll usually go for a piece of fruit maybe a granola bar. It also doesn't qualify as a snack if it has more than 150 calories.
ReplyDeleteI look for snack with protein a/o fiber.
ReplyDeleteI honestly just look at the calories because if I buy it I figure I'll inhale the entire bag within 24 hours!
ReplyDeleteAnything healthy and natural and definitely low sugar!
ReplyDeleteI look for snacks that are healthy AND yummy! I hate artificial flavors.
ReplyDeleteI try to look for healthy, crunchy and filling snacks. I don't always choose well, but I try!
ReplyDeletelow in fat and sodium!
ReplyDeleteI look for a snack that is nutritious and satisfying, but also delicious!
ReplyDeletewe have something similar here in the UK from http://www.graze.com/ that I tried out a couple of years ago, they come each week and you dont know what you're getting, but you can select at the beginning if there are things you dont eat or are allergic/intolerant to so you know you wont be sent something you dont eat, and then after you've had them, you can rate the things you like/dont like so that you'll either get them again or never again. It's all fruit and nuts and healthy snacks, some fresh items and some dried and they're all yummy.
ReplyDeleteps. Obviously dont enter me in the contest as I'm in the UK, just wanted to pass on the info if there's anyone else over here that's interested in it
ReplyDeleteI look for snacks that are not processed and low in carbs, salt, and sweeteners
ReplyDeleteUsually, something crunchy and high in fiber.
ReplyDeleteThat is SO awesome that you are getting recognition for your blog by companies trying to get word out on their products! I try to keep my snacks in the 100-150 calorie range.
ReplyDeleteI prefer a salty/crunchy snack, especially during the school year (I am a teacher). It also needs to be recloseable and portable, since I am usually eating 'on the run' between classes or before XC/track practice.
ReplyDeleteIt depends on my mood as to what type of snack I want. Sometimes I want something salty and crunchy and other times I want something sweet and chewy. I like that they send out items that are not processed and have no artificial sweetners!
ReplyDeleteI read that if you won't give it to your kids, don't give it to yourself! Care THAT much about yourself. So, that's what I consider when I pick a snack. If it's healthy and I wouldn't think twice about letting my precious ones eat it, then I will snack on it. If however I hesitate thinking, "I don't like this option for my kids" then I don't eat it myself.
ReplyDeleteWhen I'm eating between meals, I like snacks that are more bang for my buck nutritionally-- like fruit, yogurt, or something with protein. BUT when I eat snacks to just indulge, it's all about the sweets :)
ReplyDeleteI look for something that will satisfy me for a while and won't break my calorie bank =)
ReplyDeleteI look for higher protein and fiber to sustain me longer. I love snacking - a little too much I'm afraid.
ReplyDeleteI look for something that is salty, crunchy, low carb and easily portable....something I can just grab and go!! (-:
ReplyDeleteI look for sweet/salty mix, something quick and easy.
ReplyDeleteI really enjoy the sweet/salty combo in a snack. It's a bonus if it contains crunchy and chewy elements like nuts and dried fruit! It needs to be something that I can measure and put into a snack bag too!
ReplyDeleteLike so many others, I like sweet and salty together.....or spicy! Heck. I just love snacks!
ReplyDeleteI make sure it's not loaded with HFCS and sodium and has some protein to keep me full.
ReplyDeleteI like snacks that offer a few flavors/textures in the same bowl, like chewy and crunchy or sweet and salty.
ReplyDeleteThis is a cool idea! I definitely love snacks that are crunchy...it's all about the texture for me!
ReplyDeleteI like salty snacks with a little fat & a little protein. Something to keep my salt craving happy!!
ReplyDeleteI look for something that is filling and that tastes good. I also try to buy snacks that are easy to grab and take with you since it seems like I'm on the go a lot.
ReplyDeleteLow in sugar, but high in fiber, protein, and healthy fat. I try to get the portion sizes under 200 calories and the cleaner the ingredients, the better.
ReplyDeleteIt depends on my mood, sometimes sweet, sometimes salty, sometimes healthy, sometimes not so healthy, but it always has to taste good!
ReplyDeletelow in calorie, protein, and no artificial sweeteners...
ReplyDeleteI look for something that is quick, healthy and will keep me satisfied in between meals!
ReplyDeleteThe first thing I look for in a snack is protein! The fact that it's quick and easy makes it that much better!
ReplyDeleteI want my snacks to be healthly and BIG! I dont want a snack to be three bites and its gone! Draftlover

ReplyDeleteI like snacks that are salty and sweet.
ReplyDeletei try to make sure my snacks have a good amount of protein in them to keep me full....but let's be real...sometimes you just need to indulge in a little bit of what you're craving, so sometimes snacks are indulgent.

Healthy, but tasty. And budget-friendly.
ReplyDeleteWhen I am looking for a snack, I tend to look for something that is pretty healthy (or the healthiest choice I can make) because I know I'll gobble it all up within a short amount of time anyway. When I say pretty healthy, if it's chips I'll try to go for baked rather than regular.
ReplyDeleteDefinitely salty, crunchy and a tiny bit sweet!
ReplyDeleteI look for no high fructose corn syrup, complex carbs and healthy.
ReplyDeletejednc @ hotmail .com
Outside of fruit and yogurt, I am not crazy about sweet things. I like a snack to be light, spicy, salty, and crunchy.
ReplyDeletePam
When looking for snack that isn't a whole food I try and find something with less than 10g of sugar, a fair amount of protein, and some fiber. If I can find all that in an organic snack- even better!
ReplyDeletejulie.vankalken@gmail.com
I try to pick a snack with protein and that I won't feel too guilty for eating. But sometimes those gummy worms call my name, and I succumb to them and their little bear friends.

ReplyDeleteCalories and "munch factor" do I can enjoy them longer!
ReplyDeleteMainly something that will satisfy a craving and not contain too many calories (unless I'm really splurging!).
ReplyDeleteI usually mix almonds with craisins
