Is it really Halloween?!

I cannot believe it's the end of October already! Fall is my favorite time of year, and I feel like I missed it. We didn't even go to an apple orchard or pumpkin patch at all this year.

I leave tomorrow for New York, so I won't be blogging until I get home (if I'm not too exhausted, I'll try and write on Wednesday night). I won't be posting anything about the show until AFTER it airs--sorry, but you'll have to wait a couple of weeks longer!  I will let you know the air date ASAP though. Also, I will write everything down while it's fresh in my memory--but I just won't post it here until after the air date. I just hope that they'll let me take lots of pictures of everything!

I went for an 8-mile run today. I did a slow pace. It was pretty cold for the first few miles. I just wanted to get in one long run before heading to NY. Besides, it never hurts to burn 800 calories on Halloween ;)
I take that back... 955 calories. I used my HRM, so I think it's accurate!

I went to TJ Max today because I had a gift card that was about to expire. I actually have about 5 more gift cards that have to be used soon. Do any of you have that problem? Acquiring gift cards and just never using them? I tried on clothes, but I didn't want to buy anything before my lower body lift. So I ended up just buying a pair of pajamas (fleece, of course!) and a bunch of tea cups. Love the cups!
The new tea cups (and that's just some of my tea in the background)
Since I stopped drinking coffee, I've been drinking more and more tea. I like these cups because they are kind of big.

Jerry just took the kids to his parents' house to show their costumes. Jerry's mom always goes way overboard with the candy, and they each came home LOADED with it. Here's a pic of Eli with most of his loot (I say "most" because he'd already eaten some). This is JUST from Jerry's parents:
Could there BE any more Reese's Cups?!  Strangely, I don't really feel tempted by it (yet). I just hope it's all gone by the time I get home from NY!

Well I have to cut this short, because we're going to my parents' house to celebrate Mark's birthday before trick-or-treating. Have a great Halloween!!

  1. BE careful consuming too much tea, I did that at one point, went on a tea kick, and it gave me painful kidney stones.

Stopped drinking it so often and have not had a problem.

  2. Have a great time! I think you can take pictures in the green room back stage, but no photos were allowed in the show area when I was there.

    Enjoy the experience!

  3. My mom goes way overboard on the candy too. That pile in the photo? Imagine six times that much, for each kid. Lord. Every year we let them keep 5-7 pieces and send the rest - an entire grocery bag's worth - to Jason's work. I think the boys end up getting more candy from my mom than from trick or treating. Easter's even worse. For 5-6 kids hunting for eggs, my mom brings an entire old-fashioned suitcase filled with candy to hide or fill plastic eggs. I think she spends upwards of $200 on the Easter candy. Every year, we tell her she doesn't need to bring that much...sigh.

  5. I love love love tea. Everyday I make a huge glass (about 2.5 cups) of tea using three of the Tazo Zen tea bags. Then I add two packets of these protein concentrates (my doc sells them but you can get them on-line).

It is SUPER filling and they are delicious. I'm super busy all day and this is an easy way for me to get a lot of protein throughout the day.

Have a GREAT time in NYC!!! Good luck and most importantly HAVE FUN!!!

    Happy Halloween!

Happy Halloween, I'm glad I gave away all the Reese's I bought and I didn't even bring any Snickers in my house. Who could resist that stuff?? NOT ME!

  12. I NEVER have problems spending gift cards. My mom goes around with a pad and pen and asks what stores everyone wants their gift cards from for Christmas. I'm usually a Target or Kohl's girl. Kohl's is only 3 minutes from my house- so tempting!!!

I love your new tea cups. I usually drink my hot beverages out of something the size of a fish bowl with a handle, so I can relate. Oprah talked about having a special tea cup and pot and making an occasion out of it, kind of a meditation. So when you see that cup, you can kind of go "ahhhh...," back to that happy place. Chai does that for me!!

  13. Have a great time in NY!
I go overboard with the kids who come to my house for Halloween. I want to make sure I have no candy leftover, so I won't eat it myself.

  14. I love your mugs! They are so cute! My only problem would be finding room for them in my kitchen because they are so big! I never have problems using my giftcards! We usually use all of ourS ASAP! We get a bunch of mall gift certificates, walmart, and restaurant gift certificates for Christmas and they usually don't last a week :)! I hope you have a blast in New York! I am so excited to see you on the show and hear all about your amazing time! I'm most excited to see your updated picture with Dr. Oz! You deserve this so much Katie and I hope it's WONDERFUL! Don't forget to talk about your keychains because that will really help you get some added sales! Have fun!!!!!!

  15. those gift cards might actually not expire. they made it a law that gift cards cannot expire a few years ago (for the entire united states). so maybe you can still use them? ive had a store credit with boscovs for a few years now. i just dont shop there. (robs grandma got me a pair of extra small leather gloves, if anything i have HUGE hands so i went to get a larger pair and they were out-this was an xmas gift). so they gave me store credit. like i said, i dont shop there.
